On March 21, 2019, ACC and its Australia chapter filed comments in response to the proposed Legal Profession Uniform Law (Uniform Law) being considered by Western Australia. In its comments, ACC advocated for the inclusion of provisions to clarify the rights and duties of corporate practitioners as separate from private practice solicitors. Previously, when the Uniform Law was being considered for adoption in Victoria and New South Wales, ACC Australia submitted comments which focused on unique transitional issues that would affect in-house counsel, including meeting admission requirements, meeting supervised legal practice requirements, and the licensing of foreign lawyers.
