On July 29th, ACC and its Indiana Chapter submitted comments to the Indiana Supreme Court Rules Committee in response to proposed Admission and Discipline Rule 6.2. The proposed rule would allow those practicing in the state on a business counsel license to participate in pro bono legal services. In its comments, ACC requested the Rules Committee consider adopting less restrictive language in Rule 6.2 to allow greater pro bono participation from corporate law departments. As written, Rule 6.2 would require pro bono services be provided through a pro bono or other legal services organization. ACC encouraged the Rules Committee to adopt a broader rule, without affiliation restrictions, such as those adopted by Illinois, New York, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
